SUMMARY
- Style Sketch turns Instagram photos or uploads into a digital wardrobe with outfit ideas and virtual try-ons. Live in Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.
- India isn’t on the launch list and Meta hasn’t said if it will expand. Indian fashion D2C teams should watch Instagram-led discovery closely.
- Meta is shipping AI apps at pace, including Waddle World and Pocket. Style Sketch fits that pattern of small, quiet market tests.
Meta has added another AI app to its growing collection, and this one arrived with no launch event and no press release. Style Sketch, an outfit planner built around the clothes you already own, is live on iOS and Android in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand, TechCrunch reported on October 29. Social media consultant Matt Navarra spotted it first.
Meta didn’t respond to TechCrunch’s request for comment, and it’s unclear whether the app will go beyond those three markets. India isn’t one of them. Here’s what the app does, what’s still unknown, and why Indian fashion founders should keep an eye on it.
Your Instagram feed becomes a closet
The core idea is simple. Style Sketch connects to Instagram and builds a virtual closet from photos you’ve already posted. If you’d rather not link your account, you can add clothes by snapping a photo, recording a quick video or uploading images from your camera roll.
Once the wardrobe is in place, the app suggests outfit combinations matched to your style. You can then try them on what the app description calls a “realistic model matched to your body shape and skin tone.”
You can also pick a single shirt or pair of shoes and get fresh looks built around it. Trip planning is part of the package too. Enter a destination, trip length and planned activities, and the app puts together a day-by-day outfit plan that accounts for the weather forecast and your itinerary.
Navarra’s post on X described the same feature set. It also said the app ties into Facebook, not just Instagram.

Free to use, with a privacy label worth reading
The Singapore App Store listing shows the app as free, according to a Yam News report. The report also covers the listing’s privacy label. It lists photos or videos, contact info, usage data and “sensitive info” among the data types that may be collected. Listed uses include app functionality, personalization and advertising.
These labels are supplied by the developer, and the listing doesn’t spell out what counts as sensitive. If an app is built from your posted photos, it’s worth reading what it says it collects before you connect an account.
It’s not the first AI wardrobe app
Meta isn’t breaking new ground here. TechCrunch notes that startups like Alta already use AI to digitise wardrobes and visualise outfits, and Google Photos has tools that turn pictures of your clothes into a digital closet.
TechCrunch’s read is that Meta will rely less on the idea itself and more on the Instagram connection, since that’s where many users already keep a visual record of their style. In our view, that’s the part a standalone startup would find hardest to copy.

Why Indian fashion founders should care
Style Sketch isn’t live in India, and nothing reported so far says it’s coming. Still, Meta has brought AI products here before. It rolled out Meta AI across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Messenger in India in June 2024, so a wider Style Sketch launch isn’t far-fetched. It’s also not confirmed.
The stakes are real for D2C fashion. Inc42 has cited a projection that India’s D2C fashion segment will cross $112 Bn by 2030, growing at about 25% a year. For D2C names like Snitch or The Souled Store, an AI stylist sitting inside Instagram raises a fair question: who owns the “what should I wear today” moment?
Here’s the nuance. Style Sketch, as described, works with clothes you already own. It’s a wardrobe tool, not a shopping one, and the reports we found don’t mention shopping links or brand partnerships. If that changes, discovery changes with it. That’s our read, not something Meta has said.

Another quiet launch in a busy few months
Style Sketch is the latest in a run of Meta AI apps. TechCrunch covered Waddle World, an AI pet app it described as a Tamagotchi clone with AI, a day earlier. Meta has also launched Pocket, a tool for vibe-coding games for US users, and Vibes, which generates AI videos.
The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year that Mark Zuckerberg told employees Meta plans to ship far more apps than it has historically, since AI has made building them faster and easier. Style Sketch fits that plan neatly. It’s small, specific and tested in a few markets before anyone makes a fuss.
What to watch from here
Meta hasn’t said much, so the coming weeks will tell us more than the launch did.
- Track whether Style Sketch reaches India or other large markets, and how Meta announces any expansion.
- Watch for shopping links or brand tie-ins, which would turn a closet organiser into a product discovery channel.
- Read the app’s data permissions before connecting Instagram, and flag anything your own customers might question.
